Bobby Mcferrin has been one of my idols ever since I discovered him. Being a vocalist, he's virtually been my teacher. I've seen so many of his concerts online and on dvds but never caught him live until this time at the Town Hall with Questlove.
I want to think it was just a bad day for him. Or he wasn't inspired. I sat there feeling more and more disappointed with every passing minute. It was obvious that they hadn't rehearsed or even planned their performance. It seemed like one big jam. Even a jam with Bobby Mcferrin, would normally be outstanding. But this time, I was really surprised by how he hardly sang. They played the fool around, joked around, entertained in every way other than musically.
I walked away more hurt about it than disappointed. I felt like he'd taken some of us for granted. I'm still a huge fan and hope to catch another concert where he actually performs like the real Bobby MCferrin than I've always much admired.

Nothing really happened tonight...the musicians were great, the dancers too, but...they didn't fit together. For me, the Magic of the impro didn't happen :(
