Forest School in Walthamstow, UK on Sun, 11 Jul 1976
Pretty certain the gig was Friday 9th July 1976 as I caught the last tube into London afterwards to the Lyceum ballroom to see The Pretty Things..
My friend who was organising the gig had originally booked a band called "Reggie's Rockers", primarily for the comedy value of hearing our headmaster read out the name in assembly. The gig was a school disco, a few months before they played TOTP and a lot of the audience simply hated these loud, dangerous looking outcasts.
I enjoyed the gig enormously although some of that may have been due to the microdot kicking in half way through the set

My first ever gig. They were incredible and I couldn’t take my eyes off JJ.
Cool as fuck.
i was there! to this day, i thought they were called modern neon. seem to recall they were a bit of a crap electro outfit in the depeche mode/omd mold. they were deluged in spit poor sods as was the trend at punk gigs and the lead singer got pretty pissed off about it all - fair play. the stranglers were, needless to say, fukin brilliant.
The Roundhouse in London, UK on Sun, 17 Apr 1977
Only faded recollections of this one based on one line notes found in my diary of the day. Stranglers very good based on visual stage presence & attitude & strength of riffs, vocals hard to hear (words). Cherry Vanilla just good for a laugh. The Jam though third the standout - Wellers stage presence & the power of all those stand out tracks from In the City. Police weren’t in the bill / playing (unless I left as interested in the punk bands)

O2 Academy Birmingham in Birmingham, UK on Sat, 14 Mar 2015
Just had a fantastic night out at the O2 Academy, Birmingham. The Stranglers supported by The Rezillos. The Brummie audience were really lively, particularly in the mosh pit. Much drink thrown around, crowd surfing. It was a sell out. It's the most exuberant I've seen The Strangers. Jet Black even came on for a few numbers. The audience went wild! Brilliant!
