Nottingham University in Nottingham, UK on Thu, 03 Dec 1981
Hi I have a memory of Andy McCluskey when OMD played at Nottingham University on 03 December 1981. At the time I was a Dental Nurse in a local dentist in Beeston. A call came through to my dentist that there was an emergency non patient in terrible toothache, he was sent into us and it was Andy McCluskey, he was really suffering, his tooth was not good and we had to remove it, but he was so thankful because of the pain he had been in, he asked if I was a fan, oh yes I was, he told me to turn up that evening at Nottingham University and let them know on the door who I was and I could get in for free and also I could take a friend. My best friend and she still is now Fiona was so excited, I went home got ready and went straight to her house, we walked all the way to the University so excited. We got there in plenty of time and sure enough, we mentioned the dentist visit etc and were allowed in no charge!! Really excited we went into the hall, and OMD came out, it was a fantastic night, I will never forget it, and in the middle of the concert, he mentioned my name and said "I would like to thank Claire my dental nurse today who helped me, so glad feel so much better, many thanks Claire" well Fiona and I were going mad, shouting and waving, how sweet of him to give me a mention, I was 16 years old and he made my day!! Will never forget that day, and it was the first concert I had ever been too, amazing ..... Love Claire
