Van Morrison on Fri, 01 Sep 2023
Van Morrison fan memorieI was so excited to attend this concert. I purchased the tickets for Mother’s Day. The concert was postponed until August 31st. I think I would have said he was my favorite artist. My husband, 25 year old daughter and 72 year old friend (who named her dogs Mystic and Tupelo Honey) came with me. Van’s daughter went on first. I think she is good but the sound was off causing her to sound pitchy. She sang one of her fathers songs and ended with Love that Dirty Water (a Boston favorite). Van is an amazing musician and his band is fabulous. He played many new songs and covers with a New Orleans flair. They were good but began to all sound the same. I get that he had many hits from long ago and is probably tired of playing them. We understood that but we’re patient until the very end, even hopeful after the encore of Worried Man. He left his band on stage and the two back up singers sang wonderful renditions of the song. I’ve never heard Worried Man, have no idea if it’s Van’s song or another artists’s. Baffled, saddened and angry we began to leave as the lights came on. He did not play a single song we knew and loved. We looked forward to this concert for months. It costs us over $700 dollars to not hear a single song that brought us to the show. We met a devasted couple in the hall who had driven 14 hours from Indiana. I went to the ladies room where everyone was in shock. Van Morrison should be ashamed of himself and owes everyone who attended his 8/31/23 concert at the Shubert another performance.
