I was there. They did two shows, matinee and late. I went to the late one even though I was only eleven years old. I was still at junior school (St Michael's). I do not remember the Moody Blues at all, but can still recall Spencer Davis playing "Keep On Running". Acts did short sets of twenty minutes or so, they played their hits and then they were gone. The noise was deafening when the Stones appeared. There were people fainting all over the cinema and the screams were like the sound of a powerful jet engine revving up. The Stones stood and sneered rather than played. There were no PA sound systems then, just a vocal PA and the band were as loud as their amps. When "Satisfaction" started, you got the first few notes, then the crowd's screams drowned out the rest. Afterwards, some of us went backstage and then chased the Stones car down the road when they drove off. Only we were told when they were gone that it was fake, a decoy and the Stones hadn't actually been in it. They'd left in the opposite direction when our backs were turned. Happy days.
