Well, that was the surprise of the festival!
Actually, what am I talking about? That was the biggest concert surprise I've had in the last couple of years.
I have to admit, I had never even heard of The Flaming Lips until I decided to go to INmusic Festival and started checking out the lineup. A friend got recommendation that we absolutely had to see them. Now I know why.
I've seen more than 300 concerts, from tiny venues with minimal stages to huge arenas, so I didn't expect any artist to surprise me this much.
There was so much happening on stage, and it was just pure fun. I had a smile on my face for almost the entire concert. Well... after the first 15 minutes, anyway, because I spent the opening songs trying to figure out what on earth was happening. 馃槃
As a huge Black Sabbath fan, I have to mention *that* song. I turned to my friend and said, "That's one of the best Black Sabbath covers I've ever heard." His reply (he's a metalhead) was simply, "That wasn't a cover."
That pretty much says it all.
So yeah, The Flaming Lips have a new fan. I can't wait to see them again!
My second favorite concert of the festival.
