Great set extremely well delivered. After the first couple of songs Nad and in fact the whole band got much more warmed up. Acoustics at the Guildhall disappointing though; the old Gaumont (Mayflower) is much better.
As there seems little if any chance that Genesis will ever reform, Steve and his wonderfully talented band are still out there giving us hungry fans a good dose of 'classic' rock as only they can. Every song was presented with a few subtle modern updates and embellishments without straying too far from the originals that we all know and love.
What can I say about Steve Hackett that hasn't already been said? He is surely one of the best guitarists that this country has ever produced. Very inventive, versatile and a true inspiration to many guitar players over the last 40+ years. Long may he continue to amaze and entertain us. Looking forward to your next solo album Steve!
Nad Sylvan brought his own interpretations to the vocal side without the need for Mr Gabriel's costumery! Keyboard duties were admirably covered by Steve's long time collaborator Roger King. Gary O'Toole brought a lot more to the percussion and vocal side than Mr Collins ever did. Such a talented man. Nick Beggs on bass, rhythm guitar and chapman stick added new twists and sounds that perfectly enhanced the overall experience. And Rob Townsend used many wind instruments to beautiful effect throughout the show.
Would I go again?
Hell yes! Every time.
A perfect gig from a great band of true musicians who know just how to deliver a great show!
Thanks guys!
So many highlights!
I thought Steve and the band were even better than when I saw them at the Royal Albert Hall last year!
