It was a fun night recalling songs I grew up in the 80s. Hooky certainly brought the energy (not the same with his kind of aloof son, I figure he's a bit shy to overstep his authority). The acoustics at The Republik for the music they play was horrible. The mixing was pretty bad as I felt like just loud sometimes indiscernible noise was blasted at me. I could barely hear Hooky's voice, and maybe it was by design. Hooky is a legend, but I wish he would let someone else sing lead vocals. Also, I'm not sure if it was the acoustics contributing to it, but the mix of synthesizer and the rest of the band was kind of pitchy. I would imagine the synthesizer is set to be pretty accurately in tune, so it could have been the rest of the band? I don't know. It made the otherwise fun concert a little less enjoyable. Overall though I am glad I went!
They were great! Very impressed.
