I thought it was a great show . I had tried 10 times to be the first caller for a 1050 CHUM radio concert to win tickets to attend with my girlfriend Sandra ( both 15 years old ). We had mezzanine seating and when Aerosmith came on to open, it seemed no one had any idea what they were seeing. In unison the mezzanine attendees dashed to the main floor and we took a seat were we could ( mostly the aisle ) and enjoyed the show. The ushers didn't bother us, we were a peaceful crowd , passing joints, enjoying it all, caught up in the moment.
This was the first real concert I attended, and my buddy's grandmother was dispatched to buy our tickets (we lived out of town). We ended up 13th row center, and the show was amazing. BYW, this was Aerosmith's first big show in Canada; no one had heard of them, and their name on the posters was spelled "Arrowsmith"
Haha "Arrowsmith", that make me laugh :D
I was there it was one of the best concert I have ever been to and I’ve seen a lot of bands if you recall Aerosmith open the concert.
I was at this show. I was 19 at the time, and a big Hoople fan (Young Dudes was a big hit at the time). I also like Blue Oyster Cult a lot, and had both their first two albums, although I can't remember for sure if they had more then, I think perhaps they did. Aerosmith was third-billed and opened the show-no one had heard of them yet, or knew the slightest about them. I recall thinking to myself that they seemed like a really great bar-band-kind of a mix of the Stones and Yardbirds in my mind. Hah! Who knew that they would turn out to be bigger than the two head-line acts combined in another five or so years. Ian Hunter was quite good at working the small, but enthusiastic crowd at Massey Hall-one of the greatest venues ever, and home of the TSO in those years. This was at the height of Glam-Rock...satin rockstar pants, make-up, blue and pink hair highlights and platform boots were all the new thing. Haha...that all seems quite innocent and hilarious now.
