Ian and his gang at the Lincoln in DC on the 6th. First off the theater, while nice, has a very shallow balcony. Difficult to see. Dont go there for a play! Ian played about 35 minutes of Homo Erraticus. No, it is not amazing stuff, but it is Ian. I'd call it Renaissance Jazz. He is 67. Cut him some slack for still writing and creating. He finished the first set with a 15 minute version of TAAB. 2nd set was not his greatest hits but had some of his best songs, Sweet Dreams and Teacher. Good versions of Living in the Past and Too Old to Rock and Roll. Finished with a good Aqualung and encored with Locomotive Breath. He aint what he used to be, but when I go I transport myself back to 1973 and we are all Living in the Past together. I enjoyed him last year at the Birchmere much better. Wonderful set list and great to see him up close. Thats the venues he should play, but I am sure he and the gang want to make money, hence the larger venues. And, anyone who says he has no energy is nuts. He prances and hops around like he is 20, or at least 40. Still gets up on one leg! Go see this living legend then listen to his stuff on CD.
