I was there with my partner Tricia, and also with us was a life long friend Shane. I have seen The Furs many times including when they headlined one night at Glastonbury in 1986. Shane has seen the Furs perform many more times than me. Over the years their live performances have improved significantly and now they are faultless, as where they this night. I was down the front on my red mobility scooter . All of the individual performances were practically faultless and it was an excellent night with the Butler Brothers commanding the stage
    as usual .
There isn't much more to say , apart from it passed far too quickly. It was very memorable and was close to my all time favourite night watching the Furs perform, which was at a lovely little venue in Frome on a very cold night in 2010 also with Shane. That night they played their album "Talk Talk Talk" in its original playing order, then had a break before taking to the stage again to perform many of their other great songs. That's enough from me, John, my better half Tricia, and of course Shane.

My first time to the venue, from what I understand it has been refurbished a few times in the past few years. Front room was welcoming and staff as well directed to back room for music. The staff in the cloakroom happy to help and very nice. The venue plain but recognisable as a music venue, it was different in the fact it was clean and the bar was impressively stocked. Supports and the main were perfectly suited to the venue. A mix of energy in people that knew them but enough people that had not heard of either before. Certainly come back to the venue but will forever enjoy the experience. Beans on toast is a great break from other musicians and always feels welcoming to spend time with from the crowd and in the bar.

Arrived just after Charlie Leave had started singing and was instantly drawn to the stage. Simply amazing and probably the best I saw during the day.

  • Chippo the Bear was there 100% for The Polyphonic Spree · Sat, 05 Sep 2015

The most passionate and dynamic band I've ever seen live. Ever time I've seen the Polyphonic Spree live (this is the 4th time) I've come away thinking it was the best concert ever. It was wonderful to hear the whole of 'The Beginning Stages' played in its entirety, I just can't believe it's been 15 years. Soldier Girl is a classic.

The DJs and MCs smashed it, Uncle Dugs/Eksman best set of the night for me. The sound system was heavyweight. The crowd was the biggest let down, so quiet half the time, OXFORD WAS NOT READY. They didn't understand crowd participation, the MCs were trying to get the crowd involved, but they weren't having it. It's the people at these events that make the vibe, and this was different, when a tune dropped and ravers started letting off, half the crowd was looking round like 'whats going on here'???? Each to their own and all that but come on, that was a legendary line up and deserved so much more appreciation. Just my opinion but if that night was in Bristol, London or Birmingham that would've been a roadblock event.
