One man and a pair of guitars, Eric treated us to his refreshing world view last night. As entertaining when he is sharing anecdotes as singing his songs, he thoroughly charmed his audience and seemed genuinely delighted at rhe size if the crowd. He played a mixture of later work, and the songs that most of us know him best for. Live music at its best. Don't leave it another 35 years, Eric!

Just got back from the Wreckless Eric gig at The Ritz, Penzance. I knew it was going to be good because as soon as I walked into the place, Eric looked over at me and said to the woman standing next to him, "he's not allowed in!" Luckily I was though and saw Eric play for the first time in about 5 years.

He was in great form from the beginning with his ramblings about playing covers of Duran Duran songs, he was nearly tempted to play Hungry Like The Wolf, but fortunately it didn't happen. The 150 strong crowd were treated to a set which started strongly with Same, followed by Joe Meek; then tracks from the new album of which he is rightly proud: Several Shades Of Green, Days Of My Life, Have A Great Day, Sysco Trucks and the fantastic Boy Band which Eric explained was about the rise and fall of Milli Vanilli. I've listened to the album, AMERICA, a few times, but I was surprised at how many of the tracks seemed so familiar already.

After the New songs Eric played a few from his back catalogue, of course Whole Wide World and Reconnez Cherie were both there and had the crowd singing along, but he also played Semaphore Signals and The Len Bright Combo number, Someone Must Have Nailed Us Together.

For his final number Eric played my request, The 33s and 45s, despite saying it was too long really! He belted it out and it was brilliant. Then, it was over.

Eric spent the last little while selling merchandise at the front by the stage and chatted to everyone as if they were his best mate, whether he had met them before or not.

A gifted performer in so many ways. Come back to the South West soon Eric.
