First of all this was my first experience seeing Secret Chiefs 3, and I had only just learned of their existence a few days prior! I had a friend visiting who is a fan and he noticed that the band was going to be in town while he was here and asked if I would go to the show. Having never heard SC3 before I reluctantly agreed.
The show was f*cking AWESOME! Thirty seconds in to their first song I knew SC3 was going straight in to my top 5 favorite bands! They have such a different and unique sound that's so refreshingly different than the over-produced studio crap that the radio is constantly vomiting in to my ears.. I will definitely be seeing them again!
The only negative to the evening was that the show was supposed to begin with the opening act starting at 9, but for some reason they started SOUND CHECKING at 9, ended that at around 9:30, played one song at 9:45, then left and didn't come back and start until 10:15. This of course meant that SC3 didn't start until approximately 11:00. Having only had around 3 hours of steep the previous evening this made me a little upset and I almost bailed during the opening act (not my cup of tea) because of it. However after seeing SC3 I am incredibly happy that I stuck it out!

Cleric played great as the opening act. Not being very familiar with their material, it is hard to know whether the sound guy did as much of a piss-poor job with their set. All in all a great band that could develop more of an intense stage presence to match the intensity of their music.
Secret Chiefs 3 overcame the soundguy's exceeding sub-mediocrity to deliver another incredible and spell-binding performance of gems from their impressive catalog. There was a palpable energy to this show and exhilarated shouts of disbelief were heard throughout the set from the audience having their minds literally blown by this legendary band of musicians who play like an angelic choir.
