Bath Forum in Bath, UK on Wed, 06 Dec 2023
A very disappointing concert. To start with, the sound was much too loud for a small theatre like the Bath Forum and we almost felt like leaving during the first half-hour when the first supporting singer was on. She was shouting rather than singing and the best word I can think of is raucous.
She was on for about 30 minutes and this was followed by a 30 minute interval before Jools and the band appeared - no announcement made that this was to be the only interval of the evening.
Very disappointed with Jools' choice of numbers and supporting acts - he seems to be trying to appeal to a younger audience and ignoring the older fans. We were expecting a lot more boogie from him and felt that too much time was given to the supporting acts. Again, they were all shouting rather than singing and Joss Stone was the worst of them all. We were quite relieved when Ruby Turner eventually came on with a couple of old favourites.
Afraid we won't be going to any more of Jools Holland concerts.
