Me and two buds drove from Seymour Johnson AFB, in Goldsboro, NC, to Williamsburg for the show and it was worth every minute spent on the road. Supporting the newly released Combat Rock album I was blown away by the new music. Factor in the classics, the attitude, the politics and rebellion and multiply it by a forceful sound system, and lots a feedback…. What a show. They don’t make them like that anymore.
From my memory the first half of the show was pretty iffy. It sucked. Then something turned and it ended being one of the best concerts I saw.
The opening band at the '82 Clash show at William & Mary Hall was The Mighty Invaders...100% for sure...
What's up SUBLMNK-
I was also at this show , along with several of my friends...we were recently discussing the show, and trying to recall who opened for The Clash. One says Stray Cats; another says The Go Gos...I disagree with both of them. I pretty clearly remember it was a reggae band. I want to say they were called something like The Mighty Thunderbirds. Internet searches have turned up nothing. Do you recall who opened?
I know it's not a reggae band, but i will try anyway. Maybe T-Bone Burnett?
Awesome show very thankful I was lucky enough to see them at that time with the early lineup.
