Fans concert reviews write a review
How utterly ridiculous to invite a review of a concert from 30 plus years ago performed by a largely forgotten band at a scruffy underfunded venue (it still is. I saw the geriatric but still marvellous Doobie Brothers at self same venue just a few years ago). What’s the point? Of a review? Well, there isn’t one except that it gives me the chance to say I WAS THERE. Here’s the required review. It’s very short, for which say thank you Pete. They started with Michael, a perverse choice as it’s a quasi religious dirge with no discernible structure. From Jordan the Comeback. It was absolutely bloody fantastic. So was the rest of the set, with great sound, an enigmatic front man, an uncomfortable looking but gorgeous Wendy Smith and brilliant playing from Martin and Neil. I suspect Thomas Dolby actually played keyboards but may be wrong. A standout concert which I hope holds great memories for all who were there, including the band. How great they were. Really. I still play the albums when not listening to Steely Dan. But that’s another story. Pete. Clitheroe Lancs
