Styx on Sun, 22 Jun 1975
Styx fan memorieI remember this concert from my teen years with great delight. I wasn't there to see Climax Blues Band, and to be honest I have virtually no memory of their set. I didn't really know their work, and was most interested in seeing Styx, who put on a great show, and Bob Seger, who presumably did as well. The big surprise was Blue Öyster Cult, with whom I wasn't familiar at all. They knocked my socks off (almost literally--at one point in their set the drummer donned a gas mask, so we knew something big was coming, and there was quite a stage explosion), and soon thereafter I bought their live album, which I listened to many times in my teens. Another highlight of the BOC's set was when all of them grabbed guitars and came to the edge of the stage, making the band, for that moment, a four-electric-guitars-and-a-bass lineup, which I've never seen before or since. I consider this concert one of the most fun I've ever attended. Thanks for reminding me of it!
