Recently, I was lucky enough to attend the Dexateens & Drive By Truckers show at The Cannery Ballroom in Nashville. It was a raucous, exhilarating, and sweat-inducing evening of glorious good ole' rock n' roll. The Dexateens embodied hard-working, hard-rocking, Southern-infused, chunky, r n' r and were an inspiration to all us believers in the dream. May the market forces be with you and allow you the much-deserved ability to make a living doing what you obviously truly love. The Truckers were awe-inspiring in their tightness (until the end!), impressive catalogue, and commitment to conveying their unique blend of both embracing and repelling the "duality of the Southern Thang". As I continue to march thru middle age, many youthful things have become just that, youthful things that you outgrow and discard. However, some special youthful things become a part of your fabric and grow richer and more compelling as you age. Rock n' roll is one of those special youthful things. It has become an integral part of who I am and represents so much of what I value and treasure. As I stood on my feet for 5 hours just mere feet from the Cannery stage, my middle age body kept reminding me that I "ain't as young as I used to be"! I paid dearly for wearing black cowboy boots in my silly attempt to pull off some degree of old man hipness. However, as I watched the show with my 21 year old son Matt, there were many times when the pain and discomfort vanished and the glory of the music took over. As I watched my son dancing to the music, I felt like I was 21 again and full of piss and vinegar. I am so thankful for such a memorable night of reinvigoration and rebirth. Thanks to the Dexateens and The Truckers for a fantastic show and reminding me why I jumped on this Crazy Train all those years ago. Long Live Rock!

Drive-By Trucker's play a marathon set at the Cannery with the best line-up of their storied career (Yep, even with Isbell..). Lean, mean and focused, these veteran's delivered one of the best show's of 2016. See you at the Rock Show!

One of America's greatest rock bands at the top of their game. Mind's and ear's blown as the Dexateen's open for DBT on the first night of a two-night stand. Follow this...! Only the Trucker's could have... "I never saw Lynyrd Skynyrd and I never saw the Clash, but I played with the fucking Devateen's for the last week..."- Patterson Hood
