I was there with my Dad Paul Nihill MBE.I Remember The Flying sausers also on the Bill.Dad liked them so he booked them for a show in chatham town hall in 1980.I injoyed it so much that i have always been a Rock N Roll fan forming my own Band called Lucas and the Dynamos where i supported the Comets in london and have toured keeping the Music of Bill Haley alive in England
I remember my older cousin Matt who himself was only 17 in 1979 but was a massive Rock N Roll / Rockerbilly fan took me with him to see this concert. I was 15 at the time and it was only my second ever concert my 1st being Darts in Harlow Park. The Bill Haley Concert is one I will never forget great songs and great energy from the band members. Loved watching the double bass player standing on his instrument whilst playing it.
I remember the Teddy Boys slashing at their seats when Let's Rip It Up was played and watching the ushers fight a losing battle trying to stop people dancing in the Isles.
Bill Haley died 2 years after this concert it was a real privilege to watch him and his band perform that night.
