I was there & it struck me only whilst queuing I-forgot my Talib Kweli & Hi-Tek Sampler cassette wasn't to hand.
Of all of it I'd say a lasting impression of annoyance endures mainly because the live PA sound engineer didn't perform, Quality of sound during the performances specify at & during the dupastyles A.K.A Essa & Devise, DdotABLO, Brother Man and at the start of the 'Nico is' performances was terribly Yucky.I don't know maybe the venue should stipulate that the artists should drop whatever their doing to sound check before performing & then monitor and set their own EQ's real time during performance. Terrible what weren't the mic's and line inputs labelled? and doesn't the mixer have a pfl line 'level' indicator to see which mic and line is active & full complement of EQ dials for each line input that was o-so very wrong. The event was class, classic hip hop and illuminating! The whole line up of artists was talented skilled & masterful, the tracks performed should have been audible & the venue thoroughly enjoyable.
