My first visit to The Forum in North West London and I travelled from the North west of England (Manchester). This was the only UK show on this tour and judging by the variation of accents people had travelled from all over the country to get their Teutonic Metal fix. The venue is great and pretty much sold out. Voodoo Six do a good job of warming up the crowd even if the sound wasn't perfect.
The sound is crystal clear as Accept kick off with Stampede. No back drop or frills just a wall of Metal sound is needed. Wolf and Peter are superb performers and command the stage. This the first time I've seen Mark Tornillo and his voice is excellent. A better singer than Udo, even if Udo had a lot of charm and power! I saw Udo twice in the 80's with Accept and he was brilliant but Mark has a clearer and fuller voice live.
This set is excellent- new numbers 200 years and last of a dying breed are superb. Stalingrad is powerful and then to my delight 2 of my fave songs Losers and Winners and Ahead of the Pack come early in the set. Classics and Mark does a fantastic job with the udo songs- he gets the feeling down well and if anything improved these udo era songs
Starlight is agreat surprise going way back to the Breaker album. Metal heart is superb and the crowd singalong is great for melody etc. Restless and Wild Fast as a Shark provide the Power Metal drive (Fast as a Shark must have influenced all early thrash bands).
The set finishes with princess of the Dawn and Balls to the Wall. A perfect Metal night form a great band. Wolf never stops smiling and working the crowd - what a great performer along with peter and Mark is won of the finest Metal voices around.
Only would have loved Neon Nights - maybe next time- I will definitely be there!
