Travelled down from Glasgow with some mates for the show as there were no dates up there . It was brilliant, I was shaking my head in wonder as Robin was better than I remembered from the 70s .

I was 16 living in Avon Massachusetts.

Me and my friends had already started going to many concerts by the time we're about 15.

The day of that concert a buddy of mine showed up where we hang out in the afternoon and said he had two tickets to Robin Trower. We really didn't know who we was.

I immediately said I'll go. I'm sure we took the T into the city.

A few things stand out in my mind. One was the strange looking band that opened for them.

Now back then we generally never went to opening acts. We wanted more time drinking and getting high.

We did that day and it was the Cars. I can still remember Ric Ocasek. Strange looking guy but they were pretty good.

Then Trower came out and shook the place. We left as big fans. I have been ever since.

It was one of the best concerts I've ever been to and Robin Trower was at the peak of his career with James Dewar on vocals it is a memory that will stay with me forever. He was ably supported by the great Aussie band Blackfeather and it certainly was a night to remember.

As I recall Head East was mostly booed except when they played "Save my Life". Sammy Hagar had left Montrose by this time but Bob James filled in well and Ronnie Montrose was just fantastic. I mostly remember Robin Trower staring down at his purple boots while the band ripped through all their hits. I was 15 at the time and this was my 3rd concert.

Amazing show at a fantastic venue for concerts. Trower was phenomenal as was James Dewar. He was one of my favorite vocalists whose death was a great loss to the music world.

I was at this show. The name of the venue was, The Carlton (West) an old school restaurant with booth seating and musical entertainment on stage.
