I came from Montreal just to see the show but left feeling like the venue was too big for the kind of show they gave.
Ben was barely blurring the lyrics out; Couldn't even hear India; the sound was not great at Radio City. I have definitely seen better graphics and light-enhanced shows at way smaller theatres. Most importantly, I can understand why, but I definitely didn't like that Ben would take "The fear" and turn it into a dark-noisy song. I love the fact that "I forget where we were" is a completely different sound than "Every Kingdom" and I think they achieved that brilliantly (Thanks also to Chris, or well both B Brothers), but why does he feel he should go back on his tracks and try to turn it around for the previous songs. I miss Chris but maybe Ben should just move forward with developing his sound whichever direction he is aiming for, but you won't get there by going back. "Every Kingdom" songs and all the songs in the EPs he released before were magical the way they were just as all the songs in "I forget where we were" are in their own way. His talents shine through them all but at the show I didn't see it. I feel sad because I have felt more excited about his shows watching the Youtube videos, than the one I actually got to go to.
Ultimately, I understand if he is not the warmest person, but he sure could have at least greeted the crowd. He was just too cold for someone working in entertainment and I know he can crack silly jokes or funny sarcastic comments which would have been great. He just didn't look happy to be there. He's human I know, but it's part of the job as he knows by now. All together, Radio City hall was too big for such small AND SHORT show. I just wish I could go back in time and catch him at a small open mic kind of show. I'm sure he gave more back in those days.

Really disappointed in cardiff , mumbling through most of it . Standing was a nightmare there was kids in front of me aged 6-7 getting pushed around . Ppl was to busy getting pissed an the skunk I could smell was unbelievable . They wasn't there to enjoy the music . I love ben howard but that gig was a let down . Everyone is complaining on facebook. Cardiff uni was better a couple of years ago....

Amazing night, good light show...just couldnt hear the sound of some of the vocals which would have made it perfect...don't know what the reason for this maybe...but still a special night as Ben said...hope he had a great birthday!

I am a big fan of Ben Howard's music and had previously enjoyed seeing the final gig of his previous tour at Greenman in 2013. Last night Ben played dispassionately with little rapport with the crowd. No one sang along to anything and the whole set felt very autotuned and clean cut.

Went a little to heavy on the new album so the middle of the set was a little sleepy. Totally killed the encore with some great old and new songs. Would have loved to have heard Keep Your Head Up. It's so inspirational. Also, Ben trying facing the audience a little more; it's not rehearsal.

I've been a fan of Ben for years since his song Promise was featured in an episode of House in 2012. Musically, this concert was phenomenal. Ben and the band are amazing live performers. However, this wasn't my favorite concert and I left feeling a bit disappointed. I wish he interacted with the audience more, giving us little tidbits about his life, England, inspiration behind songs etc. Furthermore, the whole theater was roaring for an encore we never received. Maybe I'm just used to audience interaction and encores from practically every other concert I've been to (especially DMB). I guess you can't always get what you want, but they still put on a nice show.

I vote for "disappointing, bekause it made me sad/angry how he treated us by starting so late and only playing one encore! After paying 40 EUR I expect some respect for the audience! After Mr. Garrett already started late, Ben Howard let us wait for another 45 minutes. The music, the sound was great thogh, but he could have been so nice and play a few more songs. I have never experienced something like this before! Just anoying, sorry!

Of course, Ben is a great musician. But I really missed the old songs.. a concert without "old pine" or "keep your head up" is only a half one.

I wanted to go to his concert three years ago but it was sold out...in 2012 he got sick and on the next concert I was on vacation....so it was now the fourth time that I wanted to see ben howard live... I am disappointed. the artist I admired was not on stage. I remember empty corridors and the times where he had not even one album. I really missed the old album. It was really depressing listening to all those sad sounds and not having something else. I really like the new album as well but on the concert it was just too depressing I guess. DISAPPOINTING.

Never been so disappointed by a concert in my life. Great band and good sound, though. What an arrogant prick Ben Howard is. To say "I've played that here before one year ago" is like saying "fuck you, paying consumers who I owe my life's dream to". I wasn't expecting the entire old album, but why not play like 3 songs from it? The new album is worse than the old one and I kept wondering why they play the exact same song over and over. What an idiot. I will steal his music from now on, and never pay to see his bigheaded ass again.

I decided to write my reference here and we will see if I am the only one. When I go to a concert, it is because I admire the artist, and I want to hear any, not all, but any of his popular songs. Why Ben Howard didn't play any?? Why the concert was so short after one hour delay?? Why he even almost didn't say a word to the public? Why the guy who played before him played just ONE single song? I have many questions. I mean, I love his music, and I enjoyed, but I don't pay that money again if I don't receive a full show.

I loved the concert! Ben was right when he told the crowd "I played that here already.". Every song on his new album is worth playing on a concert. New tour = new songs.

I really love ben, there is no other artist, who is able to mix such great melodies with his extraordinary voice!

Nevertheless i never have been such disappointed from a concert as i was yesterday. I can't understand why ben plays the whole new album und ignore completely the olde one?!? That's not okay and so next time, i surely won't drive 400km in order to see him again :(

anonymous about Oslo, Norway on Tue, 18 Nov 2014

Well, I've rated "Amazing" just because I love Ben Howard and his metaphorical music but not because the performance in Oslo went super well. The thing is that throughout the entire concert it felt like Ben's trying to "shroud" his feelings, like he didn't want to show it for his fans (which is kinda understandable because the audience wasn't a single body, teenagers were drinking and yelling in inappropriate way)... Half of the gig he was facing his band, not his fans so we've got a good view of his back. What else.... He basically didn't look at the audience at all and there was no contact for this reason. Also there was a technical breakdown which caused half an hour break but he didn't say nothing more than a "let's take a short break" and after he came back he just kept on playing. Like we weren't there waiting for him. I came all the way from Lithuania to Oslo, just to see him and this is what I've got. Well, at least now I understand some of his songs better but still I'm kinda disappointed.

I was surprised at how stiff it all felt. Almost no interaction with the audience (apart from when the people in the audience started singing on "The Wolves" and he replied with a "yeah can you imagine how many people are saying that to me heh"). The opening act with Jack Garratt was much more alive and welcoming.
Even though I like most of the songs on his new album, I really think many people came there expecting at least a mix of both old and new songs, but alas.

I was so disappointed. The fans were basically screaming at him "play old songs!!" and were starting to sing "the wolves" but he didn┬┤t seem to care. He didn┬┤t even play ┬┤keep your head up┬┤, nothing. Weak encore, weak concert. Everyone felt left in shock and disbelief. Waste of money. Didn┬┤t interact with the crowd at all, it all felt very cold and mechanical.

I also saw Ben at Berns in 2012 and that was an EPIC show! The best concert ive ever been to. The show last night was just ok... I was soooo disappointed at Ben! I thought the show was gonna be a mixture of new and old songs, sure he played "Black flies" from his old record but that was it. And i think all of us wanted to hear "The Wolves" for example. He was late for the show, and he didnt really interact with us in the audience, he said a few things, he sang and then it was over. Since it was his first show on the european tour i thought he would be more pumped and high on energy, but nooo.. It was good, but not great, and i know Ben can do better then good, because he really is GREAT, it's just a shame he didnt show that yesterday!

Saw Ben at Berns (Sthlm) 2 years ago. That concert was top 3 - best concerts ever for me. This one? Top 50 maybe...

We like you new album - but we don't love it (YET, since we haven't had the time to listen to it!), so please give us some old songs as well next time...
